Dark circles below the eyes are an indication of periorbital ageing that can make you look tired. The main cause for dark circles is loss of volume and thinning around the area around the eyes.

Eye bags, dark circles and hollows under the eyes are a common concern. There are various treatments available that offer dramatic results to correct these concerns. There are quick and easy office-based procedures with minimal recovery time.

Dark circles or eye bags are noticeable and can make you look exhausted even though you are not. This can pose social or professional discomfort for many. As we age some parts start losing volume that cause the face to look fatigued and aged. The area under the eyes is prone to losing volume and fullness, which is why eyes tend to look hollow.

At Chelsea Cosmetics we offer a few treatment options for tear trough/eye bags.

  • Dermal Fillers
  • Stem cells / Fat cells transplant
  • Belpharoplasty.

Rejuvenating the area around the eyes is one of the most effective and dramatic approaches for facial rejuvenation.

Treatments for tear trough / dark circles / eye bags

1- Tear trough treatment:

Tear trough usually starts to be more obvious around the age of  30 – 40 years, our cosmetic surgeons favour dermal fillers for correcting hollows under the eyes. This is a very effective method for filling tear troughs (semicircular shaped sunken area that is around the corners of the eyes, closer to the nose).

These are the most common types of fillers used, as they contain hyaluronic acid which is also prominently found in the skin. This is why they blend easily with water when introduced into the skin and boosting the volume.

We prefer a new type of soft hyaluronic acid and because of its properties it  helps to lift and improve this delicate lower eyelid area while minimising concerns from previous fillers including swelling or excessive fullness. Overall, the improvement in the tear trough results in a fresh and rejuvenated look.

2- Eye bags treatment:

a- Dermal fillers can still be used to treat mild cases of eye bags by filling and lifting the depressed line under the eye bag and that blends the whole area.

b- Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgeries are traditional methods of treatment. These procedures involve removing skin, muscle and fat from the area around the eyes to give them an appealing shape.

However, the disadvantage of this method was that it would often leave the patient’s eyes looking older and would alter their appearance. Desired outcomes of restoring freshness and youthful appearance of the eyes were not achieved due to this.

Correcting eye bags and dark circles can bring about an impressive change to the face and replenish lost volume it. One of the main benefits is that it is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure.

c- Fat transfer is another technique that is used for treating tear troughs. It is mainly performed on patients that have severe volume loss that expands to cover the upper cheek area and further beyond the tear troughs.

Stem cells are picked from fat cells by conducting liposuction on certain parts of the body. The fat cells collected from liposuction are then processed in an equipment that segregates stem cells from the fat cells. These stem cells are then injected for treating tear troughs thus producing natural looking results for our patients.

The procedure involved replenishing volume and reshaping the mid face and cheeks thereby improving the contours of the face. The upper face gets a younger and fresher appearance without modifying the patient’s appearance or making them look different.

At Chelsea Cosmetics, we treat these concerns most effectively to produce natural looking results.
