Thread Lift

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure which helps in lifting sagging skin for a younger and revitalised look.

Thread lift is also known as lunchtime facelift or weekend lift as it takes very little time to conduct the procedure.

How does thread lift work?

There are different types of threadsThreads with barbs. (some barbed threads are absorbable and some are non absorbable)

Barbed non sutured monofilament polypropylene threads (Polypropylene sutures were modified by designing many dents along their lengths. These threads hold tissue firmly because of the sharp edges to the dents) and allows to relieve facial soft tissue ptosis when it is light or moderate. With this method is possible to lift different areas of the three thirds of the face. Barbed polypropylene threads are inserted through the fat tissue with only a long and thin needle as a guide.

Threads with cones. (they are usually absorbable type of threads with multiple cones along the thread)

It is made of Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA), it is a well-known polymer that has been used for many years in a number of biomedical and pharmaceutical applications: suture thread, orthopaedic pins, rods, screws and nails for bone fractures. It is because this polymer is particularly biocompatible with human beings, and also completely biodegradable, that such applications have been developed.

This technique leaves no scars and can be successfully used for all areas of the face and neck resulting in a fresher and younger look. Recovery time is minimal and patient can quickly go back to their full social life.

The lifting effect is immediate and discreet as it is the result of compressing the tissue and elevating the skin at the time of implanting the suture. After inserting the suture, Dr. Attalla applies slight pressure on the treated area. In this way, the doctor reshapes the surface of the skin and makes it visibly smoother.

FAQ

Fibrous tissue bands are the normal support of the skin to the deeper layers and it prevents the skin from sagging. When we age we lose the fibrous tissue support and the skin start to become saggy and droopy with gravity.

The threads usually get absorbed by the body in 6-9 weeks and during this time the threads will be replaced by your own body collagen and fibrous tissue and that helps over that period to lift your skin and give you younger look.

Usually we use 6-8 threads on each side to get the best long lasting results.

We usually use a combination of more than one type of thread in a single procedure to address the skin and subcutaneous tissues.

You can combine the thread with dermal fillers and anti wrinkle injection or other skin rejuvenating procedures like peels and laser.

The cost of thread lift varies depending on the area treated; number of threads used and amount of skin laxity.
