Melasma, a kind of skin pigmentation that causes grey-brown spots over the face. It has a more common problem in women than in men. It occurs mostly on the cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and above the upper lip. It can also develop on different areas of body that have too much exposure to the sun, like the fore arms and neck.
It is such a common occurrence during pregnancy that some people call it the mask of pregnancy. Hormones can trigger Melasma.
The most natural pigmentation treatment for is protection from sun. The following steps can be taken to avoid Melasma:

Another type of skin pigmentation is Solar Lentigines, commonly called sun & age or liver spots & actinic Bronzing, which is entire browning of the skin.

How it Works
Pigmentation Treatment for melasma includes method called chemical peeling. The process involves chemical application coat to the face to eliminate spoiled outer layers and dead skin. The new skin resurfaces as wrinkles, rough and discoloured skin disappear.
The rejuvenated skin has enhanced elasticity, resulting in smoother, softer and younger looking skin.
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, superficial pigmentation treatment. It involves using a diamond tipped applicator to exfoliate skin surface to remove dead skin and stimulate collagen, cell growth and minimize wrinkles, fine line, acne scarring and pigmentation.
Intense Plused Light (IPL) also known as Photo rejuvenation is another form of pigmentation treatment. The procedure is achieved by Palomar Pulsed Light Systems. The pulsed lights are a lot like lasers however they have larger beams with wider coverage, making them ideal for treatment.
During photo rejuvenation, high pulses of filtered light are targeted on to the skin and captured by the melanin for pigmented lesions & by blood for vascular lesions. The photo rejuvenation light pulse is captured by the pigment in the lesion, causing it to break up by the heat in the light. The lesion turns dark and crusty, eventually shedding from the skin after roughly 10 days.
Fractional Laser 1540 nm
Fractional laser is microblative laser that transmits microscopic laser beams, penetrating deeply into the layers of the dermis which have deep pigmentation. These beams eliminate microscopic particles of pigmentation. The pigmented portion gets de pixeled at first, eventually clearing most of pigmentation.
Most Popular FAQs
Most people do not experience pain during IPL treatment; however you may feel as if a rubber band has been snapped to the skin. The pigmentation treatment uses high pulse width that transmits energy into the skin for an extended duration of time without overheating the epidermis. This is why the pulses are safe.
It is normal to experience mild redness which may last for some hours or days.
Several pigmentation treatments exist to eliminate facial and body pigmentation. Depending on the intensity of pigmentation treatment may be chosen. It will vary in each patient depending on the skin concern.
There isn’t a single way to remove pigments. In some cases your surgeon may recommend combination treatments to effectively get rid of pigments.
