Do you feel that you have a double chin that does not fit with your healthy appearance? Do you feel as though your double chin is a family inheritance you did not choose to have? Liposuction of the neck can achieve a better defined and more graceful neckline.
Neck Liposuction creates a more defined appearance of the neck and chin as well as improving the definition of the jaw. Treating a double chin can dramatically improve one’s appearance, helping a patient to look years younger, fresher and even slimmer.
Neck liposuction is a popular procedure; results are permanent and can be noticeable within just a few weeks. Because traditional liposuction can only remove excess fat but usually cannot improve sagging skin, it is recommended to use laser or ultrasonic assisted liposuction techniques for a double chin with mild to moderate sagging skin. The procedure is recommended for younger patients with good skin elasticity, which is necessary for the skin to contract smoothly and evenly after liposuction. Chin liposuction is not suitable for patients with moderate to severe sagging skin.
What do we recommend to improve the results of neck and chin contouring?
It is recommended to combine this procedure with skin tightening procedures like Laser skin tightening TightSulptingTM or UltheraTM ultrasonic skin tightening technology.
In some patients, the double chin is coupled with a receding chin or even a receding jaw. This accentuates the double chin further, making it difficult to achieve the desired cosmetic result only using chin liposuction.
In patients with a mild receding chin, we recommend chin implants or fillers to augment the chin and improve the definition of the chin and jaw.
However, in patients with a moderate to severe receding chin or jaw, we recommend a chin or jaw advancement procedure.
“Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from another appropriately qualified health practitioner.”
Chin liposuction is a fairly quick procedure, performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia. Through a 1-2 mm incision in a chin crease, the surgeon injects a local anaesthetic called tumescent anaesthesia under the skin to numb the area. Slim Lipo or Vaser can also be used to heat the skin to stimulate the collagen and induce skin retraction, after which a small liposuction cannula is inserted to remove the melted fat.

After chin liposuction, patients typically wear a special supportive garment for about 1-2 weeks, return to work within 1 week, and be ready to return to full activity after about 2 weeks. It is typical to experience some swelling, hard lump and bruising after neck liposuction; this should resolve during the first 10 to 14 days after surgery.
Submental fullness is a gathering of excess fat beneath the chin, commonly known as “double chin.” It can be something you’ve had your whole life due to genetics, or start to appear as you get older or if you gain weight.
In Australia we cannot name the Product. The product is a prescription medicine and is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
The active ingredient is a synthetic acid (we cannot name due to Australian law). The acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.
